If you’ve ever been to Texas, you know that the heat here can be killer, especially during the summer. Unfortunately, the closest beach to the metroplex is not close at all, so beat the heat with the next best thing and go to Hurricane Harbor in Arlington, Texas. Priced at only $36.99 for General Admission, this is always a fun and reasonably priced attraction for North Texans. Growing up only 30 minutes away from Arlington, Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor were always the places to go and for good reason. It’s a great place to visit with a group of friends or family during a hot summer day and cool off in water.

When it comes to rides, Hurricane Harbor has no shortage and there truly is something for everyone regardless of age, height, or comfort level. Are you a thrill seeker looking for your daily adrenaline rush? Der Stuka which is one of the tallest slides Hurricane Harbor offers at 72 feet high would be recommended. You climb up seven stories and then it’s pretty much a straight drop down. I can’t lie, it is a little scary when you get to the top but as soon as your start the drop you’ll be screaming with excitement. My personal favorite area to visit is the massive wave pool over 1 million gallons). Whether you’re taking it easy in the shallow end or want to catch the BIG waves in the deep end, this area is perfect for visitors of all ages. A few other names that you might enjoy are the Twister, Raging Rapids, Hydra Maniac, and if you have a partner willing to go with you, the Black Hole which is a tandem slide that shoots you through a dark black tunnel the star-like lights giving the riders the sensation of flying through outer space. If you’ve had enough of the bigger rides and looking for a place to chill while also catching some rays, the lazy river is calling your name. Grab an inner tube, hop in and you’re all set.

Although Hurricane Harbor is a water park, it really offers so much more than that. You’re sure to build up an appetite being in the sun and swimming all day so stop by one of the several concession locations and get your hands on some pizza, burgers, pretzels or anything else you might be craving! All the while you’re enjoying the park, there will be a live DJ and good tunes playing to keep the good vibes going. So once the Texas weather starts warming up, make sure you take a stop by to work on your tan and enjoy all the rides!
