In the mood to take a look at some of the amazing creatures from around the world but don’t want to melt outside in this Texas heat? Go ahead and check out the Dallas World Aquarium if you’ve never been which is centrally located in Dallas at 1801 North Griffin Street. It is open 7 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm so you should be able to find a time that works for you to go check it out and you can see all the aquarium has to offer for less than $21. Housed in an old warehouse building, from the street you may be fooled into thinking it is pretty cramped on the inside but once you step in the doors, you will realize the property is more than suitable. The overall experience will take you around 2 to 3 hours to complete but time will fly by once you start to explore.

Spending the majority of my life in Fort Worth, the Dallas World Aquarium was surprisingly one thing that I somehow hadn’t managed to check out for myself until a few years ago. I can honestly say that I am extremely happy that I did and am eager to go back again and see the new exhibits they now offer. I remember one of my favorite parts from my first visit was walking through the 40-foot transparent tunnel they have and having a mix of sharks, fish and stingrays swim completely around you and feeling like you’re right there with them.

Be sure to check out their feeding schedule and times for educational briefs so you can see your favorite animals get their grub on. From sharks and crocodiles to otters and penguins; these are just a few of the feedings they have available to the public so you can get a close-up encounter.

The DWA has five different exhibits, which include mundo maya, aquarium, Orinoco, South Africa and Borneo; all of which feature animals native to a specific region throughout the world. Although this is indeed an aquarium, there is so much more than just fish and other sea life housed here. There are quite a number of different species of birds, a legitimate rainforest housing a jaguar and sloths, and many more sights that you have to see for yourself.

Overall, the Dallas World Aquarium is quite an enjoyable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for something out of the ordinary. Exotic animals while being in air conditioning is a winning combo and DWA has got you covered on both. One last note; inside the premises are three different cafes/restaurants if you need to stop and energize yourself with some tasty food and refreshing beverages! So next time you’re in the area looking for a fun and educational trip, stop on by the Dallas World Aquarium.
