Whether you’re a native of North Texas, or just stopping by for a visit; the Fort Worth Stockyards is a must see for anyone looking to catch a glimpse of what life in “Cowtown” once was. From 1866 to 1890, over 4 million cattle marched through the streets of Fort Worth earning it it’s proverbial nickname. Cowboys, outlaws, ranchers and businessmen alike all once walked the weathered brick streets which will give you a euphoric feeling like you’ve taken a step back in time.

Looking for your daily dose of history? The Stockyards Museum which opened in 1989, documents the growth of Fort Worth from a small stop on the Chisolm Trail to one of the largest shipping points of cattle in our countries history. Open Mon-Fri 10-5 and just a $2.00 admission for anyone over the age of 12, the Stockyards museum is a great starting point for your visit. After your visit here, pay attention as you walk the streets for the Texas Trail of Fame which recognizes to all the individuals who helped pave the way for the Western way of life. You can see Marshall badges along the streets of this Historical District showcasing names such as Wyatt Earp, David Crockett, John Wayne and Annie Oakley.

All this walking has probably gotten you mighty hungry. Head on over to Cattlemen’s Steakhouse, who’s been cooking up some of the finest cuts of meat since 1947. From a sizzling 44oz. porterhouse, to a delicious falling off the bone rib eye, Cattlemen’s has got you and your appetite covered. Conveniently located within walking distance of the museum and open Monday through Sunday.

Well, you’ve seen some cool sights and have a full belly, but this adventure isn’t over yet. Head on over to Billy Bob’s, the World’s Largest Honky Tonk, to finish your night right. From two-steppin, and pool tables, to live bull riding and concerts from some of the top artists; Billy Bob’s is your one stop shop for Western themed nightlife paired with some good ole’ Texas hospitality. And don’t forget to wear your 100% handmade cowboy boots offered at the world-famous ML Leddy’s Boots and saddlery shop.
